In young children we frequently see an alertness and poise that allows them to move gracefully without any strain. They are curious, eager to learn, and full of life. As adults we seem to lose this quality and have often cultivated a set way of doing things, habits of mind and body which we hold onto, although they may be preventing us from doing what we want and in some cases cause physical pain and injury.

Alexander Technique is a gentle hands-on teaching that increases our conscious awareness of the self in relationship to the outside world. By recognising the habitual patterns that we have built up over the years and by re-establishing our mind-body unity the work helps us develop our natural poise and well-being.

Alexander Technique lowers stress levels and is helpful for back pain, RSI, neck & shoulder tensions and poor posture. It improves attention, self-confidence and restores our vitality. Musicians dancers and actors use it in the pursuit of excellence in performance.

‘I was amazed of the short term changes I could observe on my behaviour : playing the viola almost without stagefrignt; swimming very quietly by the end of the week, enjoying with a lot of emotion my visit of the Acropolis saturday morning (letting the beauty of the monuments come to me) ….communicating easily with people in the plane back to Paris (I am usually shy !)… Thanks again for this marvellous training.’ Michel
